EVOBAC – STP | Bacteria for Sewage Treatment Plant

Bioculture for STP

Sewage treatment with bacteria is one of the oldest applications of bacteria for wastewater treatment. The primary goals of sewage treatment are to reduce the BOD and COD of sewage, reduce sludge volume, and reduce the number of pathogens present in sewage water. Sewage naturally contains a huge number of bacteria. However, most of these bacteria fall under the coliform category. Not only several of these microbes present in sewage are pathogens, but they also do not help in meeting the goals of sewage treatment. Sewage is also inherently rich in organic matter and often has high levels of ammonia along with fat oil and grease. Most of the COD and BOD of sewage is due to organic compounds of biological origin. This means that the success of the sewage treatment process largely depends on the speed of the microbial growth and the degradation profile of the bioculture mix.

Effective sewage treatment requires a bioculture mix with a wide degradation profile. Bacteria in Evobac – STP multiply rapidly compared to inherently present bacteria in sewage. They break down complex polymers like proteins, fats, grease, carbohydrates, etc. into smaller monomers. These monomers are quickly consumed by bacteria as food.

Apart from a fast growth rate and a wide degradation profile for sewage, bioculture in Evobac – STP differs from other bacteria in one critical aspect. Evobac – STP contains natural microbes that produce effective bacteriostatic substances against gram-negative pathogens in the sewage. These bacteria are natural producers of antagonistic substances against pathogens. Thus, significantly reducing pathogen count in sewage.
